Biography

Ite Offringa is a Professor of Surgery and Cancer Biology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC). He received his Ph.D. from the University of Leiden in the Netherlands in 1991 and pursued a postdoctoral research fellowship at Harvard Medical School from 1991 to 1996. Offringa joined the USC faculty in 1996. His research focuses on the study of lung cancer, particularly lung adenocarcinoma, which is the most common histological type of lung cancer. The Offringa lab conducts extensive research into the genetic and epigenetic factors that influence lung cancer development and progression. His work also explores the role of single nucleotide polymorphisms in lung cancer predisposition and the potential for targeted immunotherapy. The lab is known for its innovative approaches in multiomic analysis and protein engineering aimed at developing new therapeutic strategies. Offringa is heavily involved in mentoring minority cancer researchers and promoting cancer health equity through his leadership in various educational programs.
