Dr. Christie Sahley

Biography

Christie Sahley is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Purdue University, where she also serves as the Director of the Center for Faculty Success. She specializes in Neurobiology, with a focus on cellular and molecular analysis of learning and the cellular response to neural injury. Dr. Sahley’s academic career began with a Ph.D. in Physiological Psychology from the University of Kentucky, followed by postdoctoral work at Princeton University and Bell Labs. Throughout her career, she has held several leadership roles, including Associate Head of the Department of Biological Sciences and Associate Dean of the College of Science. Dr. Sahley has been an advocate for gender equity in STEM fields and has been involved in various initiatives aimed at increasing the representation of women in academic leadership. She has contributed to numerous publications regarding diversity, inclusion, and the experiences of women in academia. Her commitment to education and mentoring is evidenced by her work on programs focusing on the success and retention of female STEM faculty.
