Andrew Metrick is the Janet L. Yellen Professor at the Yale School of Management, where he directs the Yale Program on Financial Stability. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University in 1994 and holds a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from Yale University, awarded in 1989. Prior to his appointment at Yale in 2008, Metrick held positions in the finance department at Wharton and the economics department at Harvard. During the 2009-10 academic year, he took a leave of absence to serve as a member of the Council of Economic Advisers in Washington. After returning to Yale, Metrick served as Deputy Dean of the School of Management from 2010 to 2016. His current research and teaching focus on financial stability and the regulation of systemic risk, particularly concerning complex financial institutions and the causes and consequences of the financial crisis of 2007-2009. His past research has broadly covered financial intermediation with a focus on investment management and corporate governance.
