Biography

Dr. Bodour Salhia is the inaugural interim chair of the Department of Cancer Biology and the Royce & Mary Trotter Chair in Cancer Research at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. She co-leads the Epigenetic Regulation Cancer Program and serves as the inaugural director of the Preclinical Models Shared Resource at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. As a translational genomicist and epigenomicist, Dr. Salhia's research integrates multi-omic technologies with functional preclinical studies to tackle pressing problems in cancer biology. Her work predominantly focuses on cfDNA methylation-based liquid biopsies for ovarian, breast, and colorectal cancer, contributing to advancements like OvaPrint for adnexal mass risk stratification and MammaTrace for minimal residual disease monitoring in breast cancer. Dr. Salhia also leads the Eileen McGeever Breast Cancer Survivorship Program, focusing on recurrence risk prediction and researching genomics and epigenomics related to brain metastasis and degenerative eye diseases. Her portfolio is supported by various funding sources including the NIH and NSF. Passionate about community engagement, she founded the Bench to Bedside Initiative, aimed at connecting scientific research and patient care. Dr. Salhia has received numerous accolades for her commitment to advocacy and leadership in academic medicine.
