Charles Waldheim is the John E. Irving Professor of Landscape Architecture, the Director of the Office of Urbanization, and the Co-Director of the Master of Design Studies Program at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. An American-Canadian architect and urbanist, his research focuses on the interplay between landscape and ecology within the framework of contemporary urbanism. Waldheim is a prominent author and editor, having published and edited numerous books on related subjects that have been recognized and translated internationally. His contributions to the field have been acknowledged through prestigious fellowships, including the Rome Prize Fellowship from the American Academy in Rome and visiting scholar positions at the Canadian Centre for Architecture. He has also held the Cullinan Chair at Rice University and the Sanders Fellowship at the University of Michigan. Waldheim teaches a variety of courses including those centered around thesis development and landscape theories, guiding students in advancing their understanding of design and its implications in urban contexts.
