Associate Professor

Biography

Amy Parachnowitsch is an Associate Professor at the University of New Brunswick since July 2018. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at Simon Fraser University, followed by a Master’s in Botany from the University of Guelph, and a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Cornell University. Prior to joining UNB, she worked as an Assistant Professor at Uppsala University in Sweden. Her research focuses on evolutionary ecology, particularly the interactions between flowering plants and their pollinators. She is inspired by the diversity of flowers and the interactions involving pollinators, aiming to address how floral traits evolve. Her laboratory's research encompasses ecology, evolution of floral traits, pollinator behavior, floral chemical ecology, and the impact of climate change. Amy's work primarily involves diverse systems mainly in North America and Sweden. In her free time, she enjoys gardening in the summer, knitting in the winter, and reading fiction year-round.
