Dr. Arriel Benis

Biography

Arriel Benis is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University Pratt School of Engineering. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Paris, earned in 2009, and his career has been marked by significant contributions in the realms of biomedical engineering and health informatics. Benis is recognized for his research interests that cover the intersection of engineering and biomedical applications, including machine learning in healthcare, data management in clinical settings, and digital health innovations. His work has resulted in numerous publications which explore topics such as predictive models for cesarean delivery risks, evaluation of digital health initiatives, and development of health informatics educational resources. Benis has been awarded full membership in Sigma Xi and is a fellow of the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics, both recognitions he received in 2024. Through his teaching, he has guided graduate students in advanced topics within biomedical engineering, focusing on applying rigorous analytical approaches to solve complex health-related challenges.
