Biography

Carlos Rodríguez-McGill is an Associate Professor specializing in Spanish at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. He holds a Ph.D. in Latin American Literature from Ohio State University. Carlos coordinates the Spanish program and teaches a range of courses covering Spanish language and Latin American literatures and cultures. His research interests include Colonial and 19th Century Latin American literatures and cultures, focusing particularly on the Southern Cone region. He incorporates literary theory, cultural studies, and popular culture into his work. Carlos has presented his research at regional, national, and international conferences, including MACLAS, SAMLA, MLA, and LASA. His publications have appeared in specialized journals such as MACLAS, DeRLAS, and DECIMONÓNICA. Currently, he is working on a book-length manuscript that studies the serialized detective novels of Eduardo Gutiérrez, exploring the creation of a modern national imaginary in late 19th century Argentina.
