Biography

Hong Qu is an adjunct lecturer at Harvard Kennedy School, specializing in data visualization courses. He serves as a research fellow at the Malcolm Wiener Center for Social Policy. His notable work includes engineering YouTube's startup team, where he built key features for video sharing and channel management, including skippable ads. Additionally, he participated in the 2019 Assembly program at the Berkman Klein Center and MIT Media Lab, collaborating with a team of data scientists and civil society leaders on projects like 'AI Blindspot'. Hong graduated from Wesleyan University and attended UC Berkeley's School of Information. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Network Science Institute at Northeastern University. His engagement in academic activities and various professional roles reflects his commitment to understanding and solving public policy issues using science, technology, and data.
