Dr. Ye Chen Izu

Professor

Biography

Dr. Ye Chen-Izu is a Professor of Bioengineering and Pharmacology at the University of California, Davis, where he serves as the Principal Investigator and Director of the Cardiac Signaling Lab. His research focuses on the mechanisms of cardiac excitation-contraction and aims to develop new therapeutic strategies for treating heart diseases. He leads a multidisciplinary team that investigates the effects of high blood pressure and mechanical loading on heart physiology and pathology, which can lead to conditions such as hypertrophy, heart failure, and arrhythmias. Dr. Chen-Izu is involved in translational research and the development of innovative technologies, including the Cell-in-Gel system to study how mechanical loading impacts cardiac function. He has played a significant role as a regular member of study sections for National Institutes of Health grants, and he is an elected Fellow of the American Heart Association. Additionally, he has reviewed numerous professional journals in medicine, biology, and physics.
