Dr. Benjamin Phillips

Instructor

Biography

Benjamin Phillips received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Western Michigan University in 2012, where he worked under the direction of Clifton Ealy. His dissertation focused on topological loops and quasi-groups, exploring non-associative algebraic structures and pro-finite aspects. Before joining the University of Michigan-Dearborn in 2012, Phillips earned his Master's degree in Pure Mathematics and a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Philosophy from Western Michigan University. At UM-Dearborn, he has served as the course coordinator for Math 131 and as the editor of the department’s publications, as well as a mentor for student programs. His research interests encompass a broad range of topics, including combinatorics, graph theory, and topological loop theory, all within the realm of generalized algebraic structures.
