Dr. Tapan Parikh

Biography

Tapan S. Parikh is an associate professor focusing on how information communication technologies empower communities to address shared challenges and determine collective futures. His work includes the development and evaluation of new community information platforms across various sectors such as agriculture, education, finance, and governance, both locally and globally. Over the years, he has led multiple projects aimed at facilitating civic advocacy through participatory qualitative GIS tools, integrating VR in agricultural extension, and using digital maps to engage youth. His courses at Cornell Tech and UC Berkeley aim to explore transformative technologies in urban settings and data management methodologies. His extensive background includes managing community cellular networks and developing open-source tools for mobile data collection.
