Biography

Thomas Ristenpart is a Professor at Cornell Tech University specializing in computer security. His research interests include interpersonal technology abuse, applied theoretical cryptography, and authentication. He is set to transition to the University of Toronto in January 2026 while currently on leave from Cornell. Ristenpart also serves as the faculty director at Cornell Tech and is known for his significant contributions to the Google Cyber NYC program, supported by Google. Additionally, he has experience working part-time with Cloudflare Research. Ristenpart was awarded the Sloan Research Fellowship in 2015, acknowledging his outstanding research contributions. He is actively recruiting new PhD students for the upcoming academic year at Cornell and plays a critical role in various research initiatives.
