Chris McGibbon is a Full Professor at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) in the Faculty of Kinesiology. He earned his PhD from UNB in 1994 and has a robust academic background, including a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School's Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He has served as the Technical Director at the Massachusetts General Hospital Biomotion Laboratory and was a faculty member at the MGH Institute of Health Professions from 1996 to 2004. Since returning to UNB in 2004, Professor McGibbon has directed more than $8 million in research funding and has published over 80 articles in peer-reviewed journals. His research interests include human movement sciences, with a primary focus on mobility and balance impairments in older adults, particularly relating to neurological and orthopedic disorders. He investigates assistive rehabilitation technologies and is especially concerned with the prevention of mobility decline in the elderly, including those at risk of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. His work as a Principal Investigator encompasses several projects aimed at improving health outcomes for seniors, with numerous publications reflecting his contributions to the field of geriatrics and rehabilitation science.
