Dr. Alexander Tchekhovskoy

Associate Professor

Biography

Alexander Tchekhovskoy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Northwestern University. He focuses on computational astrophysics, particularly in the study of black holes and neutron stars and their interactions with the surrounding environment. His research investigates processes such as the devouring of stars, the ejection of relativistic jets, the effects on star formation, and the evolution of galaxies, as well as the enrichment of the Universe with heavy elements. Tchekhovskoy performs large-scale numerical simulations and engages in algorithm code development, aiming to better understand astrophysical accretion disks and jets in addition to applying fundamental physics principles to interpret observational data. His work also directly predicts electromagnetic emissions and facilitates comparisons with observations.
