Shawn Blanton is the Associate Department Head and the Joseph F. and Nancy Keithley Professor at Carnegie Mellon University. He has made significant contributions in the field of electrical and computer engineering, focusing on areas such as accelerator architecture and design, hardware security, IC test, and diagnosis. Dr. Blanton has received numerous accolades, including the National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 1997 and IBM Faculty Partnership Awards in 2005 and 2006. He has delivered over 100 talks at various universities and industry leaders including Stanford, Yale, and IBM. An accomplished researcher, he has published more than 100 refereed conference and journal papers, and holds seven U.S. patents. Blanton has served on several technical program committees and as an associate editor for the IEEE Transactions on CAD. He was the program chair for the International Test Conference in 2011. His commitment to excellence in engineering education and research has been recognized with several awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Academia Award from the National Society of Black Engineers in 2022.
