Dr. Liming Li

Associate Professor

Biography

Liming Li is a faculty member at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, where he focuses on the study of prion proteins, which are known to exist in multiple stable conformations and play a crucial role in neurodegenerative disorders such as transmissible spongiform encephalopathies. His research employs yeast model organisms to investigate how prion proteins acquire infectious conformations and how these conformations are maintained in vivo. His ultimate goal is to dissect the initiation and propagation processes of prionogenesis and identify important cellular factors that contribute to these processes. Li has held various prestigious fellowships, including postdoctoral training in circadian biology at Harvard University and prion biology at the University of Chicago. He was awarded the New Scholar title by the Ellison Medical Foundation in 2004 and has served as co-chair for several significant scientific meetings.
