Daniel D’Oca is an Associate Professor in Practice of Urban Planning at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He coordinates a required second-semester urban planning studio and leads interdisciplinary, client-based option studios focusing on housing. His studios invite students to think creatively at the intersection of design, policy, and implementation, helping them develop outside-the-box solutions to real problems. He has focused his option studios on addressing the housing shortage in Los Angeles, where students identified unconventional development sites and proposed prototypical housing developments. In addition, Daniel is a co-editor of 'State Housing Design', published in 2023. He is also a principal co-founder of Interboro Partners, an urban design planning firm based in New York that has executed projects at various scales, including community engagement campaigns. D’Oca has curated several exhibitions and has extensively written on urbanization, contributing to Interboro’s book 'Arsenal of Exclusion & Inclusion', published in 2017. He has received multiple awards for his participatory, place-based projects, including accolades from MoMA PS1 and the American Institute of Architects. Daniel’s academic and professional work emphasizes creative engagement and innovative approaches to urban design challenges.
