Javier García-Germán is a professor of architectural design at the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM) and a design critic at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. He co-founded and is the principal of TAAs — totem arquitectos asociados — an award-winning architectural practice based in Madrid that critically engages with the topics of climate change and material flows. His work emphasizes climatic adaptation through thoughtful typological, spatial, and material strategies aimed at enhancing the quality of everyday life. García-Germán has contributed to numerous architectural competitions and has been involved in significant projects, including a 159-unit collective housing scheme in Madrid, and urban plans for ecological communities. He has lectured at various international institutions and authored several articles and books pertaining to energy architecture. He has received awards for his contributions to Spanish architecture and urbanism and continues to be actively involved in academia and architectural discourse.
