Richard Carthew is a Professor in the Department of Molecular Biosciences at Northwestern University. His research focuses on the interplay between cell biology and multicellularity, using Drosophila as a model organism to explore these themes. His laboratory employs high-throughput experimental tools across genomics and genetics, paired with quantitative imaging to analyze cellular behavior. The aim is to develop a comprehensive understanding of how multicellular properties arise from collective cellular actions and the implications this has for understanding diseases such as cancer and for developing methods for tissue regeneration.
