Biography

Victoria Prowse is a Professor of Economics at Purdue University, currently holding the Marge Magner Chair. She is an empirical microeconomist with a focus on labor, public, and experimental economics. Her research examines how cognitive skills and individual preferences influence various outcomes, including effort provision, educational attainment, labor supply, retirement, and inequality. Victoria conducts studies investigating the impact of public policy interventions on significant life outcomes. She is a faculty affiliate with multiple research institutions, including the Purdue Integrative Data Science Initiative, the Purdue Policy Research Institute, the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA), and the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin). Victoria is dedicated to exploring the effectiveness of social support and unemployment insurance in addressing diverse needs within society. Her work champions the importance of cognitive development in childhood as a predictor of adult success, with implications for education and policy.
