Biography

Ramin Zabih is a professor of computer science at Cornell Tech and a member of the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science. He received bachelor's degrees in computer science and mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and completed his Ph.D. in computer science at Stanford University. Zabih joined the Cornell faculty in 1994 and has been a pivotal part of Cornell Tech since its inception in 2013. His research interests focus on computer vision applications, and he has been recognized with multiple paper awards throughout his career. Additionally, Zabih has played a crucial role in bridging the gap between academia and industry, with his technology being licensed to major companies such as AOL, Google, and Microsoft. He is also the founder of a non-profit organization aimed at accelerating the adoption of Open Access within the computer vision community, highlighting his commitment to advancing the field and supporting open research initiatives. Furthermore, Zabih is a fellow of both the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
