Biography

Chad J Achenbach, MD, MPH, is a Professor at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, specializing in Infectious Diseases and Preventive Medicine. His research focuses on improving diagnosis and treatment outcomes for patients with HIV and SARS-CoV-2 in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). He is particularly interested in the development of point-of-care and home-based diagnostics for HIV and emerging infectious diseases. Dr. Achenbach completed his MD and MPH at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in 2002, followed by residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals and fellowship at the University of Washington Medical Center. He has received several awards for teaching excellence and research, including the Public Health Teaching Excellence Award from Northwestern University (2019) and the Young Investigator Award from the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI) in 2009. Dr. Achenbach leads clinical trials focused on HIV control and COVID-19 vaccine prevention, contributing significantly to global health research.
