Dr. Calixto Hope Lucas

Biography

Calixto-Hope Lucas Jr. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He serves as the Director of the Clinical Neuropathology Service and the Associate Program Director of the Anatomic Pathology Residency Program. Dr. Lucas earned his B.S. degree in Molecular Cellular Biology and History of Science, Medicine, and Technology from Johns Hopkins University in 2014 and his M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco in 2018. He completed his residency in Anatomic Pathology and a fellowship in Neuropathology at UCSF, where he served as the chief resident in pathology. His academic interests focus primarily on brain tumor pathology, with particular attention to molecular neuropathology, pediatric gliomas, and neoplasms associated with tumor predisposition syndromes. Dr. Lucas collaborates with clinical colleagues to leverage next-generation sequencing and other advanced techniques to enhance clinical neuropathology and neurooncology practices. He is affiliated with the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center and holds additional academic titles in Neurological Surgery and Oncology.
