Biography

Ali Malkawi is a Professor of Architectural Technology and has assumed the role of Director of the Doctor of Design Studies Program at Harvard Graduate School of Design. He is also the Founding Director of the Harvard Center for Green Buildings and Cities. Malkawi's research and consulting work emphasize energy representation and sustainability, particularly through computational simulation and building performance evaluation. He has previously held academic positions at Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Michigan, and University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Professor and Chairman of the Graduate Group in Architecture. Malkawi has authored or co-authored over 130 scientific publications and has contributed as a co-editor for several books. His professional accolades include being honored by His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan in 2017, and he received an honorary Master of Arts degree from Harvard University in 2013. Malkawi earned his PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology.
