Biography

Naotaka Hayashi is an Associate Professor in the field of Anthropology at the University of Calgary. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Anthropology from the University of Alberta, completed in 2013, and a Master of Arts in Anthropology from the same university in 2006. His undergraduate degree was in Forest Sciences from the University of Tokyo. Dr. Hayashi's research interests focus on the intersection of anthropology and environmental issues, as well as the development of communities, particularly those in Japan. He has participated in various university strategic initiatives and actively teaches several courses in anthropology, exploring methods of anthropological research, and topics related to anthropology and environment. His teaching includes advanced and specialized courses covering Japanese communities, demonstrating his commitment to providing students with a comprehensive understanding of anthropological practices and theories.
