Biography

Mack Scogin is the Kajima Professor in Practice Architecture, Emeritus at Harvard University Graduate School of Design and the principal of Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects based in Atlanta, Georgia. He served as chairman of the Department of Architecture from 1990 to 1995 and has offered instruction in core studio sequences and advanced studio options. His recent studios include a variety of themes focusing on the integration of art and architecture. Scogin has been honored with several prestigious awards including the Academy Award in Architecture from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1995 and the Chrysler Award for Innovation in Design in 1996. He has received the Harleston Parker Medal from the Boston Society of Architects in 2006 and was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in 2008. His work has been recognized through numerous design awards and has been displayed in exhibitions across several prominent institutions globally, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Wexner Center for the Arts. His notable projects encompass a diverse array from federal courthouses to academic facilities across the United States and internationally.
