Duncan Callaway is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. He holds a PhD in Theoretical & Applied Mechanics from Cornell University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rochester. His academic work focuses on energy systems with a particular emphasis on the electrical grid and energy efficiency. He is also affiliated with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and has extensive experience in the energy industry, having previously worked with Davis Energy Group and PowerLight Corporation. Prior to his role at UC Berkeley, he was a member of the research faculty of the Center for Sustainable Systems at the University of Michigan. Callaway's research group is dedicated to emerging energy technologies, quantifying the impacts of power system operations, and developing control and optimization tools to facilitate the integration of power systems.
