Dr. Matilde Mellini

Biography

Born in Florence, Matilde Mellini received her Master’s Degree in Architecture from the Academy of Architecture Mendrisio in Switzerland, graduating in 2017. She has collaborated with firms such as Grafton Architects, winners of the Pritzker Prize in 2020, as well as Claesson Koivisto Rune in Stockholm, GRAU in Paris, LABICS, and STARTT in Rome. Her work spans architecture, industrial design, and urban planning, engaging in projects of varying scales and complexities. As a freelancer, she has participated in award-winning competitions, cultivating her passion for research and design. She has worked as a Project Manager and Development Supervisor for an open-source research platform focused on architecture competitions. Currently, she collaborates with the Roman-based architecture firm Schiattarella Associati from 2021 to 2023 and has experience working in the Riyadh Construction Supervision Office and the Digital Art Center of Saudi Arabia, contributing to creating first-class architectural environments. In 2020, she taught an architectural design course at Iowa State University of Science and Technology's Rome Program and is set to teach at Cornell University in 2024.
