Shabani Lab focuses on Quantum Materials and Devices, particularly on proximity effect induced interfaces between superconductors and semiconductors, known as SN junctions. The lab employs electrostatic gates to tune these systems, which serve as platforms for a wide variety of applications including Josephson circuits, field effect circuits, superconducting qubits, and topological quantum computing. The group is dedicated to developing atomically-tailored materials via molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) to achieve sharp SN junctions that integrate into functional quantum devices. Utilizing micro- and nano-fabrication techniques, the lab aims for meticulous characterization of devices through low-temperature DC and RF measurements while continually refining material growth processes. The lab also actively seeks postdoctoral associates and graduate students to contribute to the research in experimental condensed matter physics, emphasizing the growth, fabrication, and characterization of quantum materials and devices.
