Jihun Kim is a researcher and educator at Weitzman University, teaching undergraduate and graduate students about sustainability, energy flow, and environmental design through seminars, workshops, and design studios. He received his Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan and is a practicing architect with a focus on sustainability. Currently licensed in New York State, he is also LEED-accredited. Jihun holds a Ph.D. in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, where he specialized as a building scientist and developed a novel algorithm to evaluate the influence of topography and urban form on local wind conditions. His significant findings were published in the high-impact international journal in 2017, titled "Topography Integration Wind Downscaling." His teaching experience includes positions at the City University of New York (CUNY) and Parsons School of Design, where he has been involved in various educational and research activities since 2010. His expertise encompasses advanced environmental simulation, computational fluid dynamics, bioclimatic architectural optimization, and low-carbon neighborhood design. Jihun has led various courses such as the Performance Design Workshop at UPenn and Environmental Design Studio at UPenn.
