Biography

Michael Everdell is a lecturer in the Department of Linguistics at Boston University. His research interests primarily lie in syntax, semantics, and the syntax-semantics interface. He explores the lexical semantic properties of words and roots, particularly focusing on their role in morphological and syntactic processes. Everdell's work emphasizes questions of argument realization and verbal valency augmentation through theoretically engaged fieldwork on Southern Tepehuan languages, a branch of the Tepiman languages of the Uto-Aztecan family. His research contributes to the documentation of these languages and addresses broader cross-linguistic questions. Additionally, he is actively involved in the revitalization of the languages and cultures of the Opatan peoples.
