Jerry L. Mashaw is the Sterling Professor Emeritus of Law at Yale Law School, where he teaches courses on administrative law, social welfare policy, regulation, and legislation. He has previously taught at Tulane University and the University of Virginia. With degrees from Tulane University and a Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh, he has authored numerous influential books including 'Administrative Law: Introduction to the American Public Law System' and 'Bureaucratic Justice,' the latter awarded the Gerard Henderson Memorial Prize from Harvard University. His work on administrative law has been recognized with multiple awards, including the ABA’s Administrative Law Award. He is a founding member of the National Academy of Social Insurance and a fellow of the National Academy of Arts and Sciences. Mashaw has consulted for various U.S. government agencies and private foundations, influencing public policy in countries such as Peru and China. Apart from his academic pursuits, he enjoys sailing and has published articles in sailing periodicals. His recent work has been discussed in prominent publications and he continues to be a significant figure in legal scholarship.
