Jody Kraus is the Alfred McCormack Professor at Columbia Law School, specializing in Contracts and Commercial Law. He holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and a Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Arizona. With a B.A. from Ohio State University, Kraus has made significant contributions through co-authoring the leading contracts casebook, 'Contract Law Theory' (sixth edition), and publishing extensively in law reviews and peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of the American Arbitration Association Roster of Arbitrators and frequently testifies as an expert on contracts related to the Uniform Commercial Code, engaging in both foreign and domestic trials and arbitration. Kraus has served as lead counsel in significant appellate litigation and regularly engages with legal professionals internationally. His teaching covers introductory and advanced contracts, the Uniform Commercial Code, creditors’ rights, and contract theory, with research focusing on the intersection of moral and economic theories of law, particularly contract law.
