Dr. Ilana Sebbag completed her MD in 2004 and her residency in Anesthesiology in 2009 at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. She worked as a staff anesthesiologist for three years and served as an official instructor for AHA ACLS courses starting in 2005. Dr. Sebbag also served as a military physician in the Brazilian Air Force. From 2012 to 2014, she pursued a fellowship in Obstetric Anesthesia at the University of British Columbia in Canada, focusing on Regional Anesthesia techniques in obstetrics. She has been involved in numerous national and international anesthesia meetings, presenting her research and contributing to multiple peer-reviewed publications. In 2015, her studies gained media attention, leading to an interview with a local news channel. Dr. Sebbag is a member of the Canadian Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy Working Group and has authored chapters on anesthesia for the SOGC Guidelines on Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy, contributing to the FIGO Textbook on Pregnancy Hypertension. Her current research interests include neuraxial acoustic window changes based on body position, the use of positioning devices for Regional Anesthesia techniques applied to obstetrics, and methods to predict correct epidural needle placement.
