Dr. Arjun Narayanan

Assistant Professor

Biography

Arjun Narayanan is an Assistant Professor of Physics at NYU Abu Dhabi. His research primarily focuses on condensed matter physics, biological physics, statistical mechanics of living systems, and bioimaging. He has a B.Sc. from Mumbai University and an M.Sc. from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, followed by a Ph.D. from New York University. His training has included contributions to the understanding of quasi one-dimensional organic superconductors and topological insulators through his work in solid-state physics at Oxford University. Additionally, he integrates concepts from condensed matter physics to explore the physical chemistry of living cells and tissues. He has held positions at prestigious institutions including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and served as an ELBE Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Physics of Complex Systems in Germany. Currently, Arjun is investigating the intersections of cell biology and non-equilibrium physics, particularly examining examples of non-equilibrium self-organization in biological systems.
