Dr. Eric Nacsa

Assistant Professor

Biography

Eric Nacsa is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Eberly College of Science, Pennsylvania State University. He completed his PhD at Columbia University in 2015, focusing on synthetic organic chemistry. His research group addresses significant challenges in this field, primarily seeking to develop new strategies for preparing complex biologically active compounds from simple feedstocks. Eric's work includes designing novel reactions, catalysts, and reagents, grounded in mechanistic hypotheses. He aims to harness new reactivity principles in organic chemistry to create enabling tools for chemical biology, while also exploring scalable approaches for using renewable organic feedstocks and enhancing the functionality of organic polymers. His recent publications reflect his innovative contributions to organic synthesis and catalysis.
