Miranda Perry Fleischer joined the faculty at the University of San Diego School of Law in 2013 and is the Richard Kaye Woltman Professor of Finance. Prior to her tenure at USD, she held positions at the University of Colorado Law School and the University of Illinois College of Law, as well as serving as an acting assistant professor at NYU Law School. Fleischer's background includes practicing as an estate planner at Shaw Pittman LLP and working as a litigator for the Institute for Justice in Washington, D.C. She has clerked for Judge Morris Sheppard Arnold of the Eighth Circuit. Professor Fleischer's research focuses on Tax Law, Policy, Wealth Transfer Taxation, Charitable Giving, Nonprofit Law, and Universal Basic Income. Notably, she has received multiple awards for her contributions to academia, including the Thorsnes Prize for Excellence in Teaching at USD and the Provost’s Achievement Award at the University of Colorado. Her scholarly works include publications in prestigious law reviews and books addressing various aspects of taxation and charitable law.
