He has had a long career in transportation, having retired in 2015 from the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). During his tenure at GDOT, Long held several significant positions, including Deputy Commissioner from 2012 to 2015, Director of Planning from 2009 to 2012, GRTA Chief Engineer from 2008 to 2009, and various other roles, contributing to the agency's development and execution of transportation strategies.
