Biography

Shaun Martin is a Professor at the University of San Diego School of Law, having joined the faculty in 1995. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1991, where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review and as general editor of the Civil Rights–Civil Liberties Law Review. His legal expertise encompasses Professional Responsibility, Civil Procedure, Evidence, Legal Ethics, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Mortgage Securitization, and Civil Litigation. Martin has also clerked for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and practiced law with the firm Quinn, Emanuel, Urquhart & Oliver in Los Angeles. He has received several honors, including the Sears Prize and recognition as USD’s Herzog Endowed Scholar in 2007, as well as the Thorsnes Prize for Excellence in Teaching in 1999 and 2006. Additionally, he has contributed to scholarly work on the implications of the mortgage crisis in the Connecticut Insurance Law Journal and co-authored a publication on commercializing innovation.
