Leora Horwitz is a Professor in the Department of Population Health and the Department of Medicine at NYU Langone Health. She serves as the Director of the Division of Healthcare Delivery Science and the Center for Healthcare Innovation and Delivery Science. Dr. Horwitz graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies from Harvard University and earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, where she also served as chief resident. With a focus on improving safety and quality in healthcare delivery, Dr. Horwitz has devoted her research to studying transitions of care and healthcare system redesign. She is currently co-principal investigator for the NIH's RECOVER program, which investigates post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 in a large cohort of adult participants. Dr. Horwitz has received funding from prestigious organizations, including the National Institutes of Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She has been recognized as an Emerging Leader by the National Academy of Medicine and elected a fellow of the American Society for Clinical Investigation. Her work aims to improve outcomes in healthcare through evidence-based practices and innovative delivery systems.
