Dr. Kirsten Langdon

Biography

Kirsten Langdon, PhD, is a clinical psychologist at Rhode Island Hospital and an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She also serves as the Director of Research Innovation for Brown Emergency Medicine and the Associate Director of the Center for Digital Health. Dr. Langdon completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the University of Vermont, followed by a residency at the Warren Alpert Medical School and a fellowship focused on clinical research at the National Center for PTSD, Women’s Health Sciences Division, VA Boston Healthcare System. Her research primarily investigates the interplay between mood and anxiety-based processes that co-occur with substance use disorders, particularly in the context of developing digital health interventions to improve treatment outcomes. Dr. Langdon has conducted various funded research projects aimed at enhancing recovery among individuals with opioid use disorder through social connectedness and digital platforms. Her scholarly work includes numerous publications in high-impact journals, focusing on topics such as digital health interventions, peer support for opioid use disorders, and the dynamics of comorbid psychological conditions and substance abuse. She has received several awards for her research excellence, including the Bruce Selya Research Excellence Award and recognition from the National Institute on Drug Abuse for her contributions to clinical research in this field.
