Dr. Michael Wishnie

Biography

Michael Wishnie is a William O. Douglas Clinical Professor of Law at Yale Law School. His work primarily focuses on immigration, labor employment, habeas corpus, civil rights, government transparency, veterans law, and voting rights. Through his teaching and scholarship, he has engaged in significant advocacy projects, where students have represented low-wage workers, immigrants, veterans, and voters in various legal settings. His clinical work includes directing the Veterans Legal Services Clinic, which has provided critical support to veterans in navigating legal challenges. Throughout his career, he has published important works on legal advocacy in crisis situations and issues pertaining to veterans' law. Wishnie has previously taught at New York University School of Law and has served in various capacities including as an ACLU Skadden Fellow. He also has experience lecturing in the People's Republic of China, showcasing his commitment to legal education and advocacy on a global scale.
