Biography

Tami Patel is a clinical instructor at the University of Wisconsin Law School, where she supervises the Law & Entrepreneurship Clinic. In this role, she enjoys teaching student attorneys about tax aspects of transactional law, including entity formations, conversions, tax exemptions for charitable organizations, and sales and use tax compensation arrangements. Patel partners with service provider organizations in Wisconsin's entrepreneurial ecosystem to provide legal education and advice to entrepreneurs. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School and a Master of Public Affairs from the LaFollette Institute of Public Affairs. Tami has practiced in tax groups at firms in Chicago and Madison, where she gained significant experience in taxation for partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, and financial instruments. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she has been involved in initiatives to enhance entrepreneurship at the university, including being a member of the search committee for the executive director of the Wisconsin Entrepreneurship Hub. Tami has co-hosted events aimed at supporting Black entrepreneurship, highlighting her commitment to fostering diverse entrepreneurial talent.
