Joel Bothello is an Associate Professor in the Management department at the John Molson School of Business, Concordia University, where he also serves as a Research Chair focusing on Resilience and Institutions. His research interests are primarily concerned with how organizations and individuals respond to institutional market demands, particularly in relation to sustainability, informal economy, and stakeholder theory. One of his major projects studies townships in Cape Town, South Africa, focusing on informal economy entrepreneurship. Bothello has previously held a teaching fellowship in International Management at King's College London and a research fellowship with the ESSEC Philanthropy Chair in France. His work has been published in reputable journals such as the Harvard Business Review, Academy of Management Review, and Business Ethics Quarterly, among others. He has received several awards for his contributions, including the 2018 Dean's Award for Distinguished Scholarship in the Emerging Scholar category and the 2014 Halloran Award in Business Ethics. Bothello's dissertation was also a runner-up for the 2015 EDAMBA Dissertation award.
