Biography

Robert F. Halliwell, PhD, has an extensive academic background in neuroscience and pharmacology. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Stirling, Scotland, in 1983, followed by a Master of Science from the University of London in 1985. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Dundee, Scotland, in 1992, and underwent post-graduate training in neurological science at University College London and pharmacology at Ninewells Hospital Medical School, University of Dundee. Before joining the University of the Pacific, Dr. Halliwell held a lectureship in Neuroscience at the University of Durham, England, and a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at the University of California, Irvine. His work has primarily focused on the properties and potential value of neurons derived from various human stem cells, with a significant emphasis on neuropharmacology and neurotoxicology. Dr. Halliwell has received numerous training scholarships from prestigious institutions such as Rockefeller University in New York and the University of London. He is passionate about making learning engaging and fun, emphasizing collaboration in the classroom. His research has resulted in several publications aimed at advancing the understanding of neuropharmacological mechanisms and the implications of stem cell-derived neurons in drug discovery.
