Bernie Devlin graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1986 and had a post-doctoral appointment at the University of California, Riverside. He worked as a biostatistician on the research faculty at the Division of Biostatistics, Yale University School of Medicine from 1990 to 1994. He had a visiting appointment at Carnegie Mellon University in the Department of Statistics from 1995 to 1996 and is currently a faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, specializing in Psychiatry and Human Genetics. With a working field in human genetics for the past 23 years and psychiatric genetics for the past 15 years, his research focuses on developing and refining statistical methods for analyzing genetic data and implementing methods to discover the genetic basis of diseases, especially autism, schizophrenia, and neurodegenerative disorders. His work has been recognized by his admission as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in the Statistics Section.
