Jessica Hunt is an Assistant Professor of Music Theory at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. She has collaborated with several prestigious orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra and Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, commissioning new works such as ‘Climb’ and ‘Eagle Tree.’ Hunt's compositions have been featured by renowned ensembles such as the Chiara Quartet and the Axiom Brass, and her music has received critical acclaim for its engaging and joyful qualities. In addition to her composing, she served as a 2018 Boontling Community Fellow at the Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music and was the 2017-18 Young Composer in Residence with the Detroit Chamber Winds Strings. Hunt holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Columbia College Chicago, a Master of Music from DePaul University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Michigan. Her research interests focus on phonetic articulatory phenomena in sung text, the harmonic vocabulary and syntax of musical theater, and promoting the works of under-represented composers through creative analysis and curriculum development.
