Biography

Renu Sharma-Persaud is a Sessional Lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at the University of Windsor. She holds a PhD from the University of Toronto, as well as a Master's degree and Bachelor's degree. Renu's research interests include the sociology of self-care and the impact of selfishness on personal and professional well-being. She has gained prominence through her TEDx Talk, which sparked a worldwide conversation on the importance of self-care for individuals and professionals alike. Renu is also recognized for her recent publication, 'Mastery,' which was nominated for the Reader's Favourite Silver Medal and the Governor General's Award/RBC Taylor Prize. Her work has been featured in various international publications, including the Windsor Star and Thrive Global. Renu is committed to fostering dialogue and awareness around issues of mental health and well-being in today's society.
