Paul C Marker is a Division Chair and Professor at the University of Wisconsin, with a focus on the biology of the prostate gland at the molecular level. His research interests include understanding the developmental processes and functions of the prostate, particularly concerning the high incidence of prostatic diseases such as prostatic adenocarcinoma and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The Marker Lab is investigating the molecular basis of BPH associated with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), seeking to understand the role of endocrine and paracrine hormones in the regulation of prostatic epithelial cells and branching morphogenesis. With a collaborative effort in benign urology research, Dr. Marker is involved in projects examining the GH/IGF-1 axis in prostate and breast cancers. His background includes a BA from Grinnell College and a PhD in developmental biology from Stanford University, alongside postdoctoral research at UCSF. He has been at the University of Wisconsin since 2007 after serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota.
